How to Unclog Your Drain

  • Pour a pot of boiling hot water down your drain.
  • Dump in about 1/2 c. baking soda. Let that sit for a few minutes.
  • Then, pour a mixture of 1 c. vinegar and 1. c very hot water down on top of the baking soda.

Bike shed

The municipality is very strict with parked bikes around Stadhuisplein. They will remove your bike if it
has not been stored the right way. Additionally, you should try to prevent your bike from being
stolen. Store your bike in the bike shed in the basement. Make sure you store your bike in the racks
so everyone has a spot to store his or her bike.

I lost my keys or locked myself out, now what?

Keybuddy system
Mid/End of September we will ask you to form keybuddies with your fellow students. You can choose two buddies who will have access to your room. When you have lost your key, you can just contact your buddies to open up your room.

Night guard

The night guard can grand you access to your room. However we prefer the keybuddy method above.

External key service
The external key service can be reached on 085-0660950 (on weekdays after 16:00 and in the weekends all day). However, be aware that you will have to pay for that service. The exact amounts for the service will vary in relation to the time and day you need the service. It might cost you around €150,- in call fees and hourly rates on a Sunday evening but could cost you €70,- on a Tuesday afternoon. Please, take measures like assigning a key buddy to avoid any costs related to opening your door when locking yourself out.

Common Rooms

You may not use the common rooms for a party without prior clearance from both EUC(whereas the
common rooms are property of EUC) and Wolf Huisvestingsgroep. Act responsibly when having a
drink with a shared dinner, movie nights or game competitions etcetera (do not leave – empty nor
full – bottles and cans of alcoholic drinks laying around).

Vacuum cleaners

You can ask the security to borrow one of our vacuum cleaners. Make sure you bring it back within 24h.

Blinds

To keep the sunlight out of your apartment your apartment is equipped with blinds. Please make
sure to handle them with care. Be aware that you have a lot of neighbours around you and close the
blinds for privacy if necessary.

Garbage disposal

At the St. Luciastraat side there are containers for garbage disposal. Please make sure to only put
your trash in the disposal to prevent the building from having rats and let us have a clean building
with each other. In case we find out that you leave your trash somewhere else we will have to charge
you with at least a fine of €50,-. Please note that there are cameras inside the building.

Unfortunately the closest garbage disposals to not allow you to separate your waste. The municipality is aware of this and has plans to add more containers however it is still vague when exactly this will happen.

If you do want to separate your waste, we encourage you to walk down de Lijnbaan to dispose your garbage

Click here to find all the containers nearby

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the building (and that includes your room). If you want to have a smoke
you will have to do so outside. Smoking inside is risking a fine up to €200,- due to the health and
safety risks and moreover causing unnecessary smells that could hinder other and future tenants.

Cooking plate

Your cooking plate is a ceramic one. Be aware that not every pan is working ceramic. If you want to
keep your cooking plate clean, it should be done with Cerafix or HG cleaning agent. It is important to
clean the plate regularly. If you did not clean it often enough, you can still clean it using a special
glass scraper and intensive cooking plate cleaning agent for ceramic cookers (this is not for daily
use!).

What is the size of the bed?

1,4 x 2 meter

For how long can I stay?

The room is for your first year at the EUR only, from august 15th 2018 till august 13th 2019.

Where is the CCTV in Lucia used for?

Camera surveillance Lucia Living

  • 24/7 camera surveillance is used for monitoring.
  • Camera surveillance and video recording can be used to protect persons and property. The use of camera surveillance at Lucia Living is indicated by stickers and signs on the building.
  • The aim of the camera surveillance is both preventive and repressive, but also for monitoring purposes. This means that an imminent incident or contingency can be observed from the observation post. The preventive effect is mainly achieved because potential perpetrators are aware of the monitoring and realise that the camera images can be used as evidence afterwards. Another goal of camera surveillance is to increase the sense of security.
  • The retention period of the camera images is a maximum of 4 – 6 weeks.
  • Camera suveillance will be viewed by Wolf Huisvestingsgroep when necessary.
